Title: MPI - When do babies grow out of it?
Post by: jpenaflorida on November 29, 2010, 04:49:44 am
Hello! My DD is now 11 weeks old. I've been on a vegan diet for six weeks and have noticed a good change in her. She still throws up a bit but for the most part her colic/GERD/reflux symptoms have disappeared. She's an Angel baby now and is on a 3-hr EASY routine and sleeping through the night (with a DF at 2330). My question is this: when can I start introducing dairy back into my diet? At what age do babies intolerance to MP disappear?

Over the Thanksgiving weekend I had cream in my coffee as well as cheese. Not too much, though. I noticed that she was throwing up more frequently today and was a bit fussy, but I'm not sure if that's because she was a bit off her EASY today (we had guests over at the house). Do you think I should stay on a vegan diet for a couple of more months, just in case? Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks!
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

It really depends on the severity of the MPI.....for us Gwyneth was VERY intolerant I didn't introduce hidden dairy into MY diet until almost a year old.

I think 11 weeks is too early, especially after seeing the reaction to cream in your coffee.  Most ped allergists will say wait until baby is at LEAST 6 months old to introduce into your diet.,,...the majority of bubs' guts seem to get much better around 9-10 months.

So if you can handle it perhaps wait until 6 months and then try again?  I really wouldn't do anything before 4 months.  But I was VERY VERY strict as DD2 went through so much.

Good luck!!! :-*

Just curious....can he do hidden/baked dairy?  Or more broken down types like yogurt or cheese?  We seem to have progressed a LOT in the last month....dd2 is almost 28 months.   :)

Sorry to interrupt your discussion but I have a question...
I have a 5 months old, she is an angel but lately she is getting very irritable, uncomfortable with gas and colic symptoms.
It usually happens during the night to be precisely is often after the DF around 11pm. She start to moan and becomes very fussy.
Could that be REFLUX?
She has aways been a good sleeper and napper but lately we are having very long nights.
Thanks
