Title: Confused as to what she is reacting to
Post by: ~*~Louisa~*~ on February 25, 2011, 09:19:04 am
okay, A is 4 months almost and failiure to thrive

Intollerent to milk (VERY intollerent to milk even nutramigen caused a full reaction!), soy, eggs and sensitive to salicilytes (sp)

because of FTT and weighing only 9lb 12 1/2oz (she was born 7lb 3)

they wanted to absolutly rule out it being not eating enough (dispite 3 hourly feeding, wet nappies completely hydrated  ::) )

So we are now alternating Neocate (around 4 oz) and a breast feed (we were offering some neocate afterwards but she always refused it if she took any it would be what she sicked up she would then sick it back up again )

right anyway thats where we are

when we started neocate we had some slight sorta intollerence signs just mucous and more often poop (she goes once a day normally, normally i mean when on my milk with nothing for her to ract to)  and a bit of refluxy signs i thought it was her getting used to it

but we seem to be getting more poop more mucous more reflux she has started gasping for breath which she only did before when reflux was quite bad

The thiing is i know ive got nothing in my milk and neocate obviously she cant be reacting to so I dont understand whats going on

unless ofcourse this is normal for neocate? should i be getting 4-5 poops full of mucous a day on it?

im very unsettled by this because we have to watch out if she poops more or is sick more because it can cause her to loose weight which she doesnt have

Hi Louisa, I am sorry but I don't know much about Neocate. I have looked at the website and it says 'Neocate is much less likely to cause an allergic reaction' (than other formulas).

Hopefully someone else will come along with more knowledge of hypo allergenic formulas - we didn't use them, I just kept EBF

See though I would thought that if they react to neocate normal milk would bring on the worse kind of reaction we only get itchy rash and non stop screaming no swelling and no anaphalactis

Hiya, sorry i'm not much help here but thought maybe giving you a little bump will catch thw eye from someone who can help.

FWIW I don't think you should still be having this problem.

DS was also unable to cope with Nutramigen so he moved onto Nutramigen AA which made a huge difference to him. Maybe neocate is like the normal nutramigen.

nah neocates the same as the nutramigen AA she reacted TERRBLY to nutramigen (full blown rash and screaming constant screaming in pain) the pead put AA or neocate (we picked Neocate cause Liz told us the AA tastes even WORSE then normal nutramigen)

Still got the poo problem it died down but now if we have a full formula day (like yesterday we were out so just pure neocate) and baaaaaaaaaaaaaad poop again

I think its worth a try though if your still struggling. DS has nutramigen AA and he drinks it fine. He was about 4or 5 months when he started on it.

You can also flavour the milk to chafed the taste a bit, but we didn't have to

Coming from a different angle, are you sure its the formula?  What if it is still something on your diet?  Now that you have cut sals, you might have increased something else.

What are types of foods are you eating now?
