DD's pead ordered an allergy scratch test and blood test for milk allergy today. I was just wondering if the blood test would give a definative yes or no for the allergy. Anybody know?
-
fo allergy yes they can test for allergys BUT if its intollerence then it wont tell you iykwim
-
I'm more inclined to believe it is an intolerance.
-
Alyssa I think is intollerent but because it is so sensitive and she gets an itchy rash the dr and pead started calling it allergy
yet when it triggered my other daughters excema (which is an itchy rash) it was just intollerence

She didn't have the allergy symptoms. Just the mucousy poo and excessive gas. Once on the Nutramigen she was much better. I guess if these come back negative I can try a regular formula. I'd love to be able to use the Enfamil AR for the reflux to see if it helps.

She can still have a negative allergy result and need the Nutramigen, if she has MPI that is sensitive enough.
-
Agree that these tests will only show a allergy. And then at such a ayoung age they cannot be accurate.
We thought Olly was MPI until his scratch test at a year showed it was actually an allergy!
-
Seems almost pointless then. She had the blood taken today and the scratch test will be on Tuesday.

Well it should give you an idea. Esp if both tests give the same results. I don't know what the % of accuracy is TBH.
