Title: Help with my 'puter
Post by: ~Emma~ on May 03, 2011, 07:39:59 am
DH is out of town. I'm a technophobe so any help appreciated.

I keep getting a message popping up when I sign into my Yahoo email account. Its says; 'Stop running this script? A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run it may cause your computer to become unresponsive.'

I click yes and it just pops up again. Any ideas?

Hiya,

It's just an incompatability between yahoo and your browser (IE or whatever). This is usually caused by one of them updating how it runs and the other one not keeping up with the change!

IE is nototious for failing to keep up with changes, it really can't keep up with Facebook most of the time!

Download Firefox (it's free) as an alternative browser so you can still get onto the web and read yahoo if it's having problem in IE.

I swap between IE and Firefox depending upon how things are running  ;D

HTH  :)

Google Chrome and Opera are also free :) I prefer Opera as it loads really quickly, but some govt. etc sites don't support it.

It is a horrible problem in Firefox as well - Google Chrome is a million times better!! I resisted the change and moaned for weeks about the browser differnece (ironically can't have your Google toolbar in Chrome, etc) but it is SO much better.  In terms of speed it made my 5 year old laptop feel at least only 3 years old, LOL!  Love love love it.  Not a glitch with it, either.  Open Google, links to download Chrome are under the "more" arrow on the top left.
