Title: How will I know if I'm lactose intolerant?

How will I know if I'm lactose intolerant?
I suspect I might be lactose intolerant, so I'm cutting out dairy products for a whole week--well, as much as possible at least, it's very difficult to find food that wasn't made with anything dairy (except vegan food of course). Nothing overtly dairy anyway, like milk or cheese.

The point is, I started doing this, and then I realized that I don't know exactly what I'm looking for except that I have been told if I really am lactose intolerant at the end of the week I will "feel better," which is quite vague. So far I haven't had as much of the stomach troubles I usually do in the evening, but it seems like this could just be coincidence. At the end of this week what am I really looking for that will conclusively prove I'm lactose intolerant? Should I try to drink some milk after the week is up and see if it makes me sick?

In short--what is proof beyond a doubt that I am lactose intolerant? (P.S. I've already made up my mind that if I'm still not sure I will ask the doctor to test me next time I go in, but that's a month or so from now, so don't suggest that).

The things that make me think I'm lactose intolerant include:
1) Stomach troubles in the evening, and I usually have a glass of milk with dinner
2) Cravings for dairy. I can eat a whole block of parmesan cheese by itself!
3) Deep, dark circles around my eyes that I've had since childhood and never fade, regardless of how much sleep I'm getting, which I've heard is a sign of some kind of allergy
4) General lack of energy and sleepiness, again independant of the amount of sleep I've gotten.
