Some of my posts have gone missing! I notice one I posted on an asthma thread wasn't there the next morning so assumed it was me, but at least one other post from last night isn't there today, I know I posted on one of the games threads and I *think* there may be another one missing although I've slept since then so can't be sure!
Any ideas? Web site glitch or user malfunction?

If they ran the back-up last night it could have something to do with that....reverted the board back to a version saved a few minutes or hours previously and lost any posts made in that time period....
-
I did wonder about that - but the first missing post was from the evening before and there are others I posted that evening which are still there. Hmm - maybe user malfunction is more likely ::) ;D

I don't see anything in the recycle bin, so they weren't deleted. some kind of glitch i guess? :-\ ???
-
Hmm, that is weird. I did not do any reverting or anything like that. The backup is a read-only process. Taking the boy out to Ikea in a mo so will have to look later.
Can either of you remember exactly where the missing posts should have been?
(oops, forgot to click on send before going out! That was almost a 'hmm, where did my post go?' moment in itself lol.)
-
Lol Tom - and thanks!
Ok - the first missing post was here http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=224486.0, it would have been the second to last post in between Lana and Katet.
I know I posted here http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=220405.195 on Friday so the post would have been on the last page inbetween Canwi and Fiver.
I have a feeling there was another one on Fri too but can't for the life of me remember what or where!
Very mysterious - maybe it is me although you'd think I'd know how to post by now wouldn't you ;)

That has been happening to me Laura on numerous threads. I'll think its posted and when i go back to it later my post just isn't there. Weird!
-
So it's not just me going loopy then! I'm quite glad to know it's happening to someone else too - no offence ;)

LOL!! I know I was beginning to think i was crazy and hadn't actually posted even though I remembered what I wrote!

You are not crazy Laura, do you remember we had this problem happen about 2 years ago and it was happening quite often!
-
So to those that have experienced the missing posts, did you see the post there in the thread after you posted?
I know it's hard to remember what you did on every-single-post you have made lol...
-
I'll be honest and say I'm not totally sure! because it automatically then direct you to the index of the board you are posting on as usual. Its only later when some one else replies that i have realised my post isn't there.
-
I wonder if people would rather the forum return to the topic they posted in, after they post. I am on a few other forums where that is the default and I find it annoying that it goes back to the board index. I guess I always like to check my post is OK after I post.
You can actually enable it in here by clicking reply and then additional options and select 'return to this topic'. I just wonder if people would prefer it as the default...
Oh, btw, missing post people, have you been using 'reply' or the quick reply thing at the bottom of the thread?
Tom...
-
I would much prefer the post as default actually! That's a fab idea Tom!
I generally use the quick reply at the bottom.
-
I would prefer to return to the thread/post as default too :)
-
I only check the thread again if I have posted a pic! A default to return to the thread would be good!
I use reply, not the quick reply!

I think what i'll do is leave it as is now and when we do the upgrade, look at having it return to the post as default.
If we get missing posts then, *after* the poster has actually seen the post in the thread, then we know we have a problem.
Waiting until the upgrade also removes any potential legacy problems from the current version we are running which is pretty much obsolete now.
