Hi
My 6 month old is not really interested in solids, I tried a few pureas which he just isn't interested in (he is definitely ready for food but just doesnt seem to relise that it is food he just cries till I give him milk - bottle fed) tonight on the advise of the health visitor I gave him toast with lots of spread, he put it in, gagged and threw up? any tips? is it that his gag reflex has not quite gone? should I persist with larger food as advised or just keep offering purea?

Sounds like that is his gag reflux. I think it is fairly common when offering finger foods (maybe see the BLW chat thread - loads of great advice there).
He will get it one day. Just keep offering food and try not to worry! At least he is still taking his milk and so he is getting all he needs in terms of calories and nutrients.

Hun his gag reflux doesn't go. That is essential for him to be able to eat safely and bring food to the front of his mouth when it goes too far back his throat. Sounds like you were just unlucky it made him sick.
I would definitely continue to offer finger foods. I just gave mine a few pieces off my plate so it wasn't a big deal if he didn't eat it and he is really getting the hang of it now. Your DS is so young, he's just starting out so he has plenty of time to get the hang of this eating lark. :)
