DS2 doesnt suck on the teat of his bottle. he lets it drip into his mouth and he takes about 20mins to finish a bottle. months ago he used to suck on it and it would take about 6-8mins to finish a bottle, now it just drags on. I tried changing the teat to the Y shape where nothing comes out unless you suck on it and guess what... his mouth just "pretend" sucked on it for 15 mins before I realised the bottle was still full of liquid and he had drunk 10mls, yea just 10mls
Im worried how this is going to affect his drinking out of a sippy cup etc, but its actually just rather annoying too because it takes a long time to finish a bottle, his bottle goes cold and he refuses to finish it until i warm it up again. if he just drank it normally then it wouldnt go cold, he wouldve finsihed it before it got cold.
whats going on here with this?

How about giving it to him in a free flow sippy?

I give him his water in one of those, you dont need to suck on those do you? it just comes out?

That's right!

tried that this morning and he refused to take it

Ok well I think you can get convertible bottles which can have a valve or free flow teats in - I think they are for teaching babies to transition from bottle to beaker. You could try that. Or yiu could get a fast flow teat or even make some more holes in the current teat.

the one he is on is the fastest flowing one and he has to stop to take breaks but if i use the next one down in size then it takes even longer to finish a bottle, up to half an hour!
shouldnt he be sucking? is it laziness?

I know that ear infection/fluid and/or teething can make it uncomfortable to suck? You can make extra holes in a teat with a pin for an even faster flow.

might try that. hes been doing it for months so i dont think its pain related
