Title: Portion sizes for my 7mo
Post by: Cindymenjivar on February 08, 2013, 06:01:44 am
Hi

I have a 7 month old who has always been in the 90th percentile or more (currently 21 lbs). He has been taking solids well for almost a month now and his appetite seems to be growing. I currently breastfeed him 5 times a day - I think about 130 - 150 ml per feeding (this is how much I get when I pump). As for solids , he eats 4tbsp of mixed grains cereal mixed with breast milk and some prune juice (no sugar added) for breakfast. For lunch he has 1tbsp chicken mixed with 3tbsp squash. Supper is 3tbsp green beans and 2 tbsp pears with some prune juice mixed in. Do these portions seem reasonable? My little guy cries terribly and is grumpy when hungry, but is immediately happy and cheerful when he's full. He is not yet trying to crawl and I worry a little that he is too much of a marshmallow (chubby and mellow!). Should I be changing what I feed him or change portion sizes? (I add prunes and pears because he tends to get constipated - I am also encouraging water and sippy cup).

Thank you so much for your imput!
