Title: Should I change formula? Is it too late?
Post by: rishaanim on February 15, 2013, 11:43:35 am
LO is almost 4months old. He has been very gassy since day 1, but it seems that gas still wakes him up in the middle of a sound sleep. He is on similac advance. Do you think it's the formula causin it?  I have tried offering him similac sensitive but he doesn't seem to like the taste of it. I continuously use mylacon drops, but he is still gassy. Help!

Where do you live hun?  Helps with knowing what we can suggest ;)

If you are in the USA/Canada, you could try GoodStart... different proteins and can be easier on the tummy for some.

Hi Kara!

I live in california. I can try good start, it's by gerber right? I am going to be travelling out of country soon. Do you have an idea how much time any formula generally takes to show an effect on a baby? I need to carry min 12-15 boxes of formula. Iam taking a long vacation, taking LO to see his grandparents :)

What country are you going to??

It is by Gerber in the USA, Nestle in Canada.

You would see a change in a few days to a week for sure.

Hi Kara!

Iam traveling to India. So I have to carry enough formula with me as I am not introducing my LO to anything from there. I need to figure out a way to carry his formula water on board the aircraft too. Also I might introduce solids to him soon so maybe I'll carry baby food from USA as well.

Is gerber a better formula in general? I can buy a small pack to see how he does on that. But just don't want to mess up his tummy.

If he is having tummy issues, do not intro solids... his gut is not mature enough at this age regardless so it will just cause worse tummy pain and waking during the night/naps.  Wait until he is 6 months.

Yeah, I wouldn't use water or formula in India either..

Check with the airline about formula supplies - there are different rules with some airlines in terms of things you need for baby.

I can't say that Gerber is a better formula since all formulas have to meet the same standards, but I will say my DD did very well on it :)
