Title: Egg?
Post by: Lindsay27 on March 19, 2013, 14:33:02 pm
Just curious when to offer egg?  DS is almost 11 months and he has had full egg in baked products (muffins etc) but not on its own yet.  Doctor said he needs to have eaten an egg before 12 months because the 12 month shots are egg based.

We have no family history of egg allergies.  Info online is very conflicting!

We did egg yolks at 7mo and whole egg at 8mo - no problems

My LO is 7months and eats scrambled eggs  no problem. The HV said recomendations have changed and there is no problem with offering eggs.

Audrey's been eating eggs since she was 6-7 months old.

Okay, I figured as much!  I thought that scrambled eggs or even an omelet with veggies & cheese would be something nice to eat for breakfast or lunch!  Going to try it today, I doubt we'll have any issues :)

You've done well thinking of alternatives for this long! I'm always whipping up egg something or other for my DD as nice & quick and she loves them. Hope your LO likes it.

yea we did whole eggs really early ( i never separated them). if your baby is allergic he is allergic so might as well find out sooner than later.

It went so-so LOL.  DS is not a picky eater at all, but he wasn't too sure about this!  I think it was the texture, he picked it up and started flailing it around in the air LOL.  He did eat some, and I have some leftover so I think I'll try it again with breakfast tomorrow :)  It would be good if he likes it, great source of protein.  Might just be because it is something new, so once he has it a few times I'm sure he'll be fine.

Mine was the same first time with the texture but second time she was fine. It is good as its healthy anf so quick to make.

Same here, did not like it at first and seems less keen once it's gone cold (and egg goes cold very quickly!)

DD is really odd with eggs too... add in a pile of cheddar cheese and it's like magic ;)

Tried it a few more times and now he loves it :)  Great addition to breakfast and lunch! And hey...lots of protein!

Just watch the number of eggs - I wouldn't give more than one a day :)

No no, I don't even think I give it every other day. Maybe 2x a week, sometimes 3 I guess. We have a variety of other foods for breakfast and lunch, but it's nice to throw something new into the rotation :) I think I might try a quiche soon though! Mmmm quiche! I should probably practice that one first before subjecting it on my baby though LOL :P

LOL!  I love a nice broccoli and cheese quiche - the toddler disagrees!

I have seen loads of recipes for individual egg "muffins" made in muffin tins... sautee veggies in little bits and whisk eggs... pour eggs into muffin tins, add cooked veggies/cheese and bake :)
