Emma had allergy testing two days ago. It was the one allergy we narrowed down and had eliminated and were all but positive she would react to. Yeast.
Of course the test came up negative ::)
But tonight on the spot where he scratched her with the yeast extract, we have an itchy welt. She's not been outside for.a bug bite and it's too much of a coincidence to ignore. Anyone deal with this at all?

No not come across this yet. Sure you have done but I would feel back to the specialist for advice!

Yes I called the office and she's going back on the 31st. From what I've been reading we may go ahead with food patch testing or just accept this as a delayed response. I'm also curious about all of the naturally occurring yeasts out there ie dairy, oranges and every other food she's reacted to seems to have high levels of natural yeast in. This may not be FPIES at all.

Did they warn you to keep an eye out for a delayed reaction? Is it something you had a hunch about anyway?

No it's something I googled when we couldn't figure out why after the last set of tests she never reacted. We were dumbfounded that she tested negative to this past test but I didn't bother looking and just happened to notice it the other night. I did some reading and came across food patch tests to check for a delayed reaction and I'm going to ask for these now. I've been a lot more skeptical of allergy testing since speaking with another gp who feels that parents usually know more than these tests which often give false negatives. So glad I took pics to show him. He's really a great allergist and I'm a bit surprised he didn't mention it, though when he diagnosed her with FPIES, I wonder if delayed reactions wouldn't even be on his radar because FPIES is food intolerances that usually don't show up on tests.

Yes, I have just googled and it seems there is a different test for a delayed reaction, guess that will be your next step then :P

I *think* from having been often on FPIES forums, that some FPIES reactions show up as delayed reactions on a patch test. But I'm not 100% sure Vicki.
