Title: Breastfeeding and colitis (mucous/blood in stool)
Post by: draxela on July 10, 2013, 19:02:37 pm
Hi everyone

I'm breastfeeding a bub with multiple food intolerances. Just wanted to share some info I found helpful.

Here's an article from a medical journal re: bf and allergic enterocolitis:

And here's link to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital's 'Friendly Foods' cookbook (you have to buy the actual book but you can download and read the introduction which gives some useful info. The RPAH Elimination Diet (also known as the Failsafe Diet) is very similar to Dr Sears' Total Elimination Diet, but much more clearly explained and a lot easier to follow since more foods are 'allowed'. The diet focuses on cutting out food chemicals (salicylates, amines and glutamates) but the cookbook has recipes that are both low chemical and top 8 free:

I've only just started this diet so I'll post an update in two weeks with any progress. I previously did the TED but found it too difficult to sustain for more than two weeks.

HI,

There was a group of ladies here that followed strict EDs. Here is a link to one of their threads that you might find some useful info on;
