We have couple of tubs which are getting quite dried out and just wondering if there's an easy way to give them a new lease of life? :D
-
Why dont you just make some more, loads of fun for J to make it then play with it ;D
You will need:
1 cups plain flour
1/2 cup of salt
2 tablespoons of cream of tartar (optional)
1 tablespoons of cooking oil
Food colouring
Glitter (optional)
1 cups of boiling water
Method:
Put all the ingredients in a large bowl and mix. As soon as it starts to bond together and is hard to mix, take it out of the bowl throw it on a board and knead until it takes on the look and consistency of play dough. It will be hot when you take it out of the bowl so be careful.
This recipe is great if you’re planning on making a couple of batches in different colours but if your just making one batch you can quite happily double the amounts.
Don’t worry if you have no cream of tartar it makes the play dough more elastic but you can still make this play dough recipe without cream of tartar. Also I have found that while liquid food colourings work fine, Gel food colouring produces a brighter more vivid colour

My favourite way is to chuck 'em out and replace with a couple of nice new tubs :P ;) ;D ;D
Apart from that no idea sorry!!

Lol I wondered whether anyone would come up with a recipe :D a friend made some the other day with cinnamon in, smelled gorgeous! Not sure DD knew what to make of it though. How long does the homemade stuff last?
-
If they are just a bit dried out you can add water a few drops at a time (really key as just a wee bit too much and it ruins it) and then knead it well. Or toss and make homemade!
-
You can add coco powder, peppermint oil, vanilla extract, nutmeg anything you like but it might make them a bit tempting for DD to eat ;D
I store it in a muffin tin and it keeps for months xx

Honestly, home made playdough is so ridiculously easy that I cannot believe I only made it for the fist time last year as I thought it sounded too much like hard work ::) :-[! It literally takes 3 minutes, and I love that it lends itself to being 'personalised' for whatever your child feels like doing. So I sometimes make black playdough and they love using it for making 'roads' which they drive trucks through, or build with, or making blue sparkly playdough if we're going to play with sea creatures/shells with it, etc.
It keeps really well if in a sealed lunchbox in the fridge, and can be revived with a bit of water and reheating.
This website is so great for ideas

Oh my I love that link Clare!
I do this If they are just a bit dried out you can add water a few drops at a time (really key as just a wee bit too much and it ruins it) and then knead it well. Or toss and make homemade!
and it works well for a while.
I've made a few homemade ones, and they are great too.

Love the link, thank you!

you can also add any essential oil or cooking essence (my boys like peppermint). also with ECT experience, a tactile learning experience can be anything in playdough.. so mix in some uncooked rice or some beans (you'd throw it out after a few days though) and powder paint (if you have any) does give good colour also

We've made it heaps- it seems to last for ever! We keep ours in the fridge sometimes.. but you probably don't need to!
-
Def gonna make some!
