Title: Night waking and early waking
Post by: SamanthaLomax on March 02, 2014, 08:17:13 am
Hi, I need some help. My youngest son is 11 months old and up until he was 8 months he was sleeping through 4 times a week, since then his sleep has deteriorated, as he is getting older it feels like he should be getting better and he's not. We have changeable issues with no real pattern to them other than the consistent waking at 5, followed by some shouting and then he will sometimes go back to sleep until 6 but sometimes not. Either way I do not get him up until 6. He will also sometimes throw a 3 or 4 am wake up into the mix just for good fun! But will then go back to sleep until the 5 am wake up. He does not seem tired when he wakes, which is making me think he is having too much day time sleep. I have previously tried cutting this back but this did not work I have also tried allowing him to have what he wants, no success either.
His daytime sleep varies from very good to waking at every 40 minute sleep cycle. I have spoken to my health visitor who said she cannot spot anything I am missing and that it will settle eventually but I am beginning to lose hope!

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Hi and welcome to the BW,

Would be able to post what the last 3 days have looked like? When does he usually take his morning nap and how long is it, afternoon nap and bedtime.

11 months is about the age when they start the 2-1 nap transition and it almost always does mean that we have to control the length of their naps so it may be a case of giving it another go.

Would you also be able to note his E's - solids and milk
