Title: 7 months, habitual 3am waking since 3 months
Post by: sunnymuffin on March 08, 2014, 00:38:13 am
I have a 7 month old formula fed boy.  He sleeps 7pm-7am (give or take half an hour).  He has been self soothing to sleep since 3 months.  Since then he has only had 1 night waking, always around 3am.  I give him a bottle at this time.  He naps great during the day (2 naps, around 2 hours each, sometimes if our day is interrupted he will take 3 shorter naps).  He does use a soother(dummy) to sleep but it doesnt seem to be a problem, he doesnt mind if it falls out

Starting at 6 months I have tried difference methods to cut out the nighttime feed with no success.  I tried shushing and patting, and he will settle but be up again in 20-60 minutes for another round.  I tried CIO, he cried for 80 minutes and never settled.  I have tried reducing the bottle to as little as 2 oz, I have tried diluting it with more water. He doesnt care as long as he gets the bottle, then he will settle back to sleep until 7am.

His waketimes during the day are 2.5 hours.  His schedule is loosely this:

E - 7:30am
A-
S- 9-11am
----
E - 12pm
A
S - 2- 4pm
----
E - 4pm
A -
S- 7pm Bottle & Bedtime
----
3am - Bottle

I put him to bed tonight without the soother.  He  cried/fussed for about 30 min then settled to sleep.  I hope this helps us eliminate the MOTN wake &  feed but I know it w wont happen in 1 night
