Title: Habitual NW 7 months
Post by: Kabik on March 10, 2014, 08:25:31 am
Could you please advice what would be better for the habitual NW - pu/pd when the baby is awake or W2S ? we have started sleep training but it is going well. The nights are bad we have few NW every night and bf or bottel as a prop, and also habitual early wake up, so ds is all the time ot, during the not able to seep more then 30 minutes, sleep training is done mainly during the day, once it was during the night and he cried 40 minutes and finally felts a sleep. I think that the main problem is with night. thank you in advance for the any suggestions

Hi Hun, can you answer just a few questions for me?

1. Is he an independent sleeper at all or just naps/bt?? Was he ever?
2. What is his current easy including feeds (bf or FF?)
3. How long have you been ST and what/when are you doing it?

Hopefully I can take a look at your EASY and see what is what. When does he normally wake? Is it at the same time every night? How many times? Are you offering a feed every time or just when he is usually hungry?

Everything is a total mess. Today we had 8 NW :(, during the night the only way I can make him sleep is BF OT bottel. Last week we had NW at 22/24 2.30 and 4.30 I think that 2.30 and 4.30 are Habitual, but today we had 22, 1.30, 2.30, 3.30, 4, 4.30, 5, 5.30, 6 - 6 BF, 2 bottel - of course he is not hungry.
1.BT - independent sleeper, naps - independent sleeper, but for about week we have also mess with naps, we have 3 naps at home usually 30 minutes and one in the pram. So 4 naps, I know it is not good for him. But he has so bad night and all the time is OT. He wakes in the morning and rubs his eyes and yawns. I am not able to wait 3 h A. Before ST ( ST since a week) I went with him for a two walks with  A time 3 h - but it was almost impossible for him to wait this 3 h, also because bad nights. And also in the pram he woke after 30 minutes but I always tried to make him sleep again. Usually after this 30 minutes his sleep was very light.
2. I would say no easy. He wakes at 5.30 - also habitual :(, 7 - solids, 8/8:30nap 30minute, 10:30/11 - nap 30 minutes 13:00 - solids, 13:30/14 - nap 30 minutes, 17 - nap in the pram, 18 solids 19:00 BT BF in the meantime. And with that he is all the time OT just after 45 minutes from morning wake up and 20 minute from the nap time. I try to prolong his naps but it is impossible, he really wants to sleep longer but don't know how and starts crying. ST - I put only a had on his chest - but I am not helping him, it is just that i am with him, he is not alone I am not able to soothe him :(
3. ST for a week, backed window, waterfall sound, hand on his chest one time it better other worse, yesterday he cried heavily even it was 8 day of the ST.
I really don't know where to start I have no Y and depressed, proponging the A time will not help I think that the naps are so short cos of OT and maybe so many NW also because of OT. Maybe i should post on the general sleep issue board :(. He is touchy and his sleep clue are sooooo visible, crying also of OT.
during the walks he slept for about 2/2.5 h and next walk about 1/1,5 h. But the pram stoped working as a prop :( and i have no other props for him apart FB and bottel but this is olny during the night so I decied to do ST I thought i would help..

Hi Hun, I can tell you are so tired and I feel your pain.  I know you've had a couple other threads going so I don't want to complicate things too much.  Few more questions. Is there any discomfort involved. Are you FF or BF? Do you offer solids at all? When you say he's an independent sleeper that means he can go down in his crib completely awake and you can walk out of the room and he'll put himself to sleep. I just want to make sure that's correct.

If you can give me your EAS in a format like

W: 7
E: 7:30 6-8oz  or whatever it is
A:
S: 8-8:45 give eyes shut to eyes open.
E:
A:
S:

Etc. This will help me look at your EASY and see what's what.

Off the bat it sounds like you have a feed to sleep prop. I would say at that age 2 feedings at night are common Maybe 3 if there isn't a lot of intake during the day but 2 would be most likely. He could possibly be OT for now. Is there a way to resettle him at the 30min mark? What do you do to try and resettle. Is there an environmental issue ? Too light, too hot/cold? Noise? Do you use a noise machine? Also what is your wind down like before nap and bt?

Hi, sorry I feel now so hopeless, whatever i do it makes it worse. My baby sleeps at night about 8 h with 6-8 NW :( and during the day about 2/2.5 h is it far to less for him. All the day unhapy fussing and crying because of OT - I have no life and he also, he really wants to sleep but doesn't know how. Now even in the pushchaire about 40 minutes :( and he awakes after 20/25/30/35 minutes, all beacuse of OT. I feel that there is nothing now i can do :(, and i don't understand this at all. But thank you very much for the reply I will come back to this after a while..
