Title: Displaying/storing artwork
Post by: jessmum46 on May 06, 2014, 13:45:01 pm
Does anyone have a good system for displaying or keeping LOs artwork?  We can't possibly keep everything J paints or makes, but it would be good to have some creative ideas for either displaying the 'best' ones (blu-tak isn't very exciting.....) or storing some of the ones we want to keep.

We have an "art area" in our kitchen where she hangs stuff. I rotate every month or so. I store in rubbermaid bins.  A GREAT way to save is also to photograph the artwork, and make a book out of it  That way you can just collect the books, (make maybe one per yesr) and add captions too. You're actually more likely to actually look at her work that way, and others will too!

I bought this to display some of L's stuff recently, which is great.  Easy to swap things around too. Only fits A4 though so no good for bigger pieces.

I have a huge pile of her artwork upstairs which I need to sort through and decide what to keep and what to throw away :(

Love Anne's photo book idea though.

We have a similar thing to Cath's. I also have a memory box so whenever I feel something is special enough to save, I write the date and a little story about how and when it was done on the back.

We also have 4 of DS's drawings framed as artwork for our bedroom. The colours are perfect!

I have several pieces framed....my favorite is the 3 of us as a stick-figure family, with fireworks over our heads.   As I type I can see another one, it hangs in our hallway, of the 3 of us under a rainbow.  Don't forget to date your pictures!

We have a memory box ATM but I 'want' to take pics of them all so I can then make a photobook of all the artwork at some point, I've seen it on Pinterest and it comes out great. Same with photos for framing or making a college of the work.

We have a display fridge too. I also use his paintings from kindy as wrapping paper for family gifts.

That's a brilliant idea! I'm definitely going to do that :)

I do a few things - take pics and make books (so behind on this), keep some of the most special ones (Spencer drew a heart today for the first time!) & frame some (we have a rainbow coloured portrait of our St. Bernard in the bathroom currently and a huge 3 x 4 foot self portrait of Masyn's downstairs framed with an old wooden window screen). I want to make some sort of art wall where it is easy to interchange pics but have not quite figured it out. I do recycle a lot and store ones to think on in a box (one per kid). I generally keep original works of art and not just colouring book pages.

Saves me money and time too ;)
