i *think* DD may be taking less of a feed first thing in the morning & am wondering if it's time to start to phase out the DF?
with DD1, she just dropped it herself cold-turkey so i'm kind of at a loss here....
just curious what others have done....

Also interested in answers!

I'm NOT answering your question bc Medi is still not sttn and I'm still feeding her at least once. Lol.
(Around now I would have thought, if she's sttn well and on solids etc)
-
My two never showed any signs of dropping it themselves :P so I encouraged them to let it go around 10 mos.
-
Same as Anne... I phased it out at 9/10mo with both. DD was sleeping through, DS was still having another NF (my choice, an early am one :P).
(Around now I would have thought, if she's sttn well and on solids etc)
I agree with this... it sounds like it might be worth bringing earlier over the next week or two and then drop it and see what happens. Your gut is likely right. :)

8 months with dd1, 6 months with dd2 and 10 months with ds. It sounds like you've got good reason to think about dropping it! You can always bring it earlier or shorten it too if you think that would help.
-
Yes....I might try 10.15 instead of 10.30 and see how that goes....We are still having bottle/weaning issues so tbh I'm a little wary of dropping it from that point of view.....from a selfish point of view though, I would *love* to get to bed 15 minutes earlier!!!!
-
I dropped our at around 5/6 months as started only taking small morning bottle! I just cut down amount gave until was only giving 4oz then after a few days just went for it! Was fine for us but bottle FF so could be different x
-
Scotty had a DF from about 4 weeks until about 11 months. He was very, very thirsty at night, as it was so hot in summer. And those were the only times he didn't wake ridiculously early.
-
With L we dropped it cold turkey at 7 mos. however, she had naturally been taking less and less at it for a while before I stopped offering , and it was getting harder to rouse her enough to take more
-
Happy - how did it go? Have you tried a bit later? DS is taking 6-7oz at 10:45/11:00 but than is less I interested in 7am morning feed. I am just thinking if I should limit DF to let say 200ml or maybe just bring it earlier a bit. Interested if moving it by 15min change sth.
-
i tried it 15 mins earlier last night....dont think it changed amything tbh....(i have dropped the 3rd solid feed the past few days so i think that's what's made the difference, if there is any! we were having a bottle at 5ish, solids at 6 and then BT BF at 6.45!!!!it was chaotic!!!)
i'll keep it at 10.15pm for a few days & see how it goes.....

Have been doing DF at 10.15pm the past week. She is definitely taking less...
Bite the bullet and move to 10pm or go cold turkey?
I'm wary of a 10pm feed cause she has a tendency to wake herself around then and settle herself back to sleep.
Should I go for 9.45 in that case? Solids still aren't great and she has just started to tummy sleep which is causing NW s the past 3 nights. ...
-
Cold turkey could cause EWs...I would try and DF even lower key, more sneaky and 3 hours after tuck in.
-
We starting dropping at 6 months-bought it 15 mins earlier then held for 3 days, then forward another 15mins & held for 3 days etc. Once we got to 9pm we dropped an ounce at a time until 4oz then just stopped. Took a couple of weeks but we never had any fall out from it as in no NWs or EWs 😀
-
So we are at day 3 of 10pm DF. Push back another 15 minutes for another 3 nights?
-
If you want... once I got earlier than 10, I just dropped it (but, then again mine were a bit older).
-
I'll give it another couple of nights at 10pm and see how we go.she woke early this morning. ...
-
Does she take the same ammount?
-
I'm BFing so hard to tell...
-
I'm not DF ing tonight. First time.have spent the last while doing it at 9.45pm but the past 2 mornings she has been very slow with the bottle and she had great solid feeds and bottles today so am biting the bullet.....here's hoping!!!!
-
Oscar at 10 mths - he took ebm by bottle and we could see he was just taking less and less.
Emma was losing interest in bf DF totally - hard to rouse even to get her to latch on...also after the 10 mth mark.
I just went cold turkey both times but they had been phasing it out themselves naturally...once they were taking a decent "tea" as my mammy would say ;-)
