Title: 11 month old, new to bottles and struggling
Post by: Lewa2 on June 28, 2014, 04:07:15 am
Hi, I'd love some tips on how to get DS to take more milk during the day. The background story is : He's 11 months and I've just started to wean him from breastfeeding to formula. He's never been a big drinker (never once wee'd on me when naked and never overflows a nappy) but seems happy otherwise (we've been to the paed a dozen times and he isn't worried about his wee output). He would NOT take a bottle when younger, but will take one now.

Our problem is he only ever takes 50ml at a time (1.5 - 2oz), has a play and a burb then takes another 50ml about 10 mins later, up to 150 or 200ml a bottle (5 to 6.5oz), up to 3 times a day if we're lucky. He has started waking around midnight and early around 4 or 5am to start the day. He eats 3 big meals a day, still having milk first. I've got an almost 5 year old and a 3.5 year old so the prolonged bottle is such a pain! Any advice on how to get him to take more milk? Or do I actually need to drop a bottle and give a snack instead?

Hi there, are you still BFing at all or are all milk feeds now from a bottle?
