Title: Next step in 2-1 for 11mo - WWYD?
Post by: Love, laughter, & PJs on October 25, 2014, 23:36:33 pm
We are working through the 2-1. Trying to work on independent sleep at the same time. We had been in a little teething lull, it seemed, although today's hand chewing had me wondering if that is about to end. She is going to sleep about 80% of the time completely on her own, without any crying maybe 20%. So we are making major progress from where we were a month ago. I know, though, that the right EASY is everything. When we get it right, things are SO much easier. It is just so hard to tweak!

This had been working well until about a week ago:

7 - A
10 - S
10:45 - A
1:45 - S
4ish - A
7ish - S

But the last few days she is resisting the second nap more, taking longer and is more difficult to go down, and only sleeping 1h15 or 1h30. So I know we need a change. I'm thinking cut the AM nap a bit more? Or would you push out that second A time? Both at the same time? Not totally sure what to try.

TIA! :D

Given that you have your longer nap in the afternoon, I would probably want to cut the am nap a little shorter and keep the pm nap at the same time to begin with. This way you're less likely to end up with the pm nap cutting into BT. This would be my first suggestion and then you can always move the A time as well in a few days if the nap shortening only hasn't worked.

Ok thanks Naomi. I'm thinking to cut to 30 min?

Sounds good to me - give it a try for a few days and see how you get on. X

Just to say don't forget you may need to shorten the 2nd A time when capping the 1st nap, I think we used to shave off 5mins each time the pm nap got worse, whilst bringing the pm nap earlier by 15mins, which worked for us.
