Title: Baby started early waking
Post by: hayley66 on December 26, 2014, 08:37:44 am
Please can somebody help. We have a cat napper but now he has started waking at 5.45am instead of going to 7am like he used to. I put a dummy in (he can self settle all other times) and he goes back to sleep but I don't understNd why he is waking. He is 5.5mths old and weaned. The issue he is crying out and often waking my 3 year old

Typical day
With dummy wake at 7am breakfast and milk
Sleep 9.30, 45 min nap
Eat milk and lunch 11am
Sleep 12.45, 45 min nap. I have got a longer nap sometimes at 2hr20 activity time but it's hit and miss, I've tried a complete range of A up to 2hr 40 but normally 35-45 min nap. I often then take him straight in the car to get another 30 min nap so normally 1 hr 20ish in total
Sleep 4.30, 45 min nap
Eat 5.30
Last bed milk 7.30

He was then sleeping till 7 but now screams out at 5.45 religiously...he can self settle fine but seems to go back to sleep with the dummy at this point...

Any ideas?

It sounds like he's ready to start transitioning to two naps, which will hopefully become longer. Have a read through this link and let me know your thoughts... All about the 3-2 transition- 5/6 months

Now I'm confused! Yesterday we were at family, he slept an hour in the morning driving there, 45 mins at lunch in cot and an hour 15 mins at 4-5.15pm driving home. I was stressing as there was nothing I could do (he always sleeps as long as the car is moving!). But this morning he went till 7am!!! First time ever. Does that look like he needs more sleep rather than dropping a nap do u think?

Normally I'm not driving over his naps and that's why he's never slept that much during the day...

I'm thinking it's over tiredness now for the early wakings, do you agree? If so I need to do the impossible and break these 45 minute naps in the cot!!

Was it the same BT? He could've just been catching up a bit, but the sleep total isn't really all that far off what you normally get... right around 3hr... he was just more rested at BT, maybe.

Probably it is OT, because he doesn't do full naps, but the likely way to break the 45min naps is to stretch your A times which will push you toward dropping the last CN. Does he go down independently?
