Title: EASY + school drop offs and pick up = disaster
Post by: malibu_nikkus on February 14, 2015, 07:32:13 am
hi
My 11wk old is a chilled out girl, but the constant need to be out and about is taking its toll on her.  I've posted about constant 30min naps on the nap board.  But I'm just wondering how you manage your EASY with school drop offs and picks up (my kid go from 8-1pm) so it cuts into two sleep cycles.   My LO will only sleep 30mons in car seat or stroller, and in her cot at the moment.  I can't even extend naps using my baby sling.  It seems being out and about is too stimulating for her so she always has a longer wake time than what she needs.  She is constantly overtired and I don't know how to deal with.  I can't do the shopping or anything because she is always crying from being tired, I can't concentrate.

How did you manage your EASY so little one got enough sleep?  Is it a matter of being patient and waiting until their wake times get longer or is there a way of handling this so my little girl isn't miserable?  Thanks heaps

I didn't have school drop offs but did have a toddler and various activities at set times to contend with. I used to aim for an EAS pattern where I could and if I could see I would need to be out when a sleep was due I would intentionally do that nap in the Moby wrap which worked well at that age. Or if a car was needed I would leave a bit early or late if needed or take the long way round to get enough nap to get us through without total meltdown.  It does get easier as wake tines get longer.  I'm thinking though if you start your day at 6.30 instead of 7 you could aim to have first nap on school run, if it's short then a slightly shortened A time and longer nap after 9.30 feed. Then up for 12.30, feed and school run. Home in time for nap? Could that work?
