Title: What are your favourite picnic foods for toddlers?
Post by: cath~ on April 15, 2015, 12:30:58 pm
Well, the sun is out now and we're planning on LOTS of days out in the countryside this year ;D

So I wondered, what are your favourite picnic foods for LOs?

I guess our staples are rolls/sandwiches/pitta breads, grapes, cherry tomatoes, cheese, flapjacks..

I once made these which were very easily transported too:

Does anyone have any other nice ideas?

:)

Pretty similar really, quesedillas because they stick together making it a bit cleaner for toddler eating, or pittas opened up with grilled cheese inside and closed whilst warm so again they stick together.  Both are quick to throw together before going out too.
Sometimes we stop off at the shops to pick up a picnic lunch rather than make it at home so then it might be crusty bread/baton with dips such as humus and taramasalata along with cherry toms and fruit.

Mini muffins are great for taking out.
I used to be more adventurous with picnics, these days it's quick easy stuff.

We often take cold rice or cold pasta with veggies/cheese/ham... anything really. Frittata is also nice. And all kinds of toast and sandwiches.
