Title: Stopped dreamfeed, increased milk but less solids
Post by: newbie_momsie on September 01, 2015, 03:07:49 am
Hello!

DD is 8 months old. Last week we dropped her dream feed and added the amount to her daytime milk feeds. DD eats well during breakfast but lunch and dinner meals varies. Some days she finishes her meals but most days she takes about 3 bites only.

Should I be concern that she isn't eating much solids at lunch and/or dinner? Not sure if she isnt hungry or doesnt like the food. I feed her about 30 to 60 mins after her milk.

Thanks!

I wouldn't worry. Some LOs don't take to solids until they are a bit older and it's not like she's refusing everything as you say she takes a good breakfast and a few tastes at the other meals which is fine.  It's also common for LOs to take more solids in the earlier part of the day, so a big breakfast and smaller lunch/dinner is quite common.
If you are concerned about the balance of foods because you prepare more variety for lunch/dinner you could offer those types of meals at breakfast instead of the traditional cereal type breakfast. She might be more willing to try different tastes (veggies etc) at that early meal.
Maybe try more like 60 mins after milk if that fits around nap times so she has a chance to be a bit more hungry.

Thanks for replying creations and your suggestions! I will try offering new foods in the morning when she eats more solids and wait an hr after her milk feed to feed solids. Hope she eats better. Thx!
