Title: Anyone have experience with an overbite?
Post by: katiebee18 on February 27, 2016, 17:29:30 pm
DS3 is 5 weeks today and I recently had his tongue and lip ties corrected and they are healing, but both the ENT and pediatric dentist say he has a pretty good overbite which may have actually been causing most of my nipple pain vs. the tongue/lip.

I have been on a nipple shield since day 1 as I learned quick with my other 2 that the tongue and lip ties need to be corrected for me to nurse without one.

I am worried that I will still be in pain once I ditch the shield (honestly I still have some pain with the shield now but not as bad as I would without it)

Anyone else have a LO with an overbite? If so, what helped or did you just stay on the nipple shield to protect your nipple until much later?

Has it helped?

I've no experience but would chat to your Dr about the options if treating the tongue tie hasn't helped.

Our DS has an overbite and recently had his tongue-tie corrected.  The pain decreased substantially with that alone.  I have next to no pain now.  I have never used a nipple shield so not sure how different it would be.  I hope that you have the same luck as us and your pain improves as well!
