Title: Teething or other issue?
Post by: kyleian on April 16, 2016, 10:56:16 am
DD (17 mo) has been waking at 5 AM since the end of January, the same time she started chewing her fingers and starting to get her molars. Now we have 3 molars and her canines are all coming in.
When she started waking at 5, her schedule was pretty much 6:30 wu, nap from 11:30-2, 7 PM BT.
With the 5 AM waking she usually stays in bed with me resting till 6:30 (she's never happy to be awake, but won't go back to sleep), and when she naps has been all over the place and her naps have been anywhere from 1 hr to 3 hrs long, regardless of how long or short her A times have been.
We were away with family for 5 weeks (and she reverted back to 2 naps...), with a 5 hr time change, so I was hoping that coming back here where we're later would push her back to a later WU, but it hasn't.

The past 2 days her schedule was:

5 AM WU, in bed till 6:30
Nap 12-1:25, would not go back to sleep (I would say OT but she's napped like this at times when we're right at 5 hrs A, or under, or over)
BT 6:30.

Today:
5 AM WU, in bed till 6:30
Nap 10:30 (fell asleep nursing) till 12:50 (woke in the middle but went right back to sleep)
BT 6:45.

I'm just so tired of it all and 18 weeks pregnant, and I still do think it's teething (especially with her diapers being so smelly and runny this whole time no matter what she eats), and with only 1 molar left I hope we're nearing the end, but I just wanted to see if it sounded like anything else was going on schedule-wise.

Are the canines still coming in? Those were the worst of the bunch for DD3...and keep in mind there are another set of molars at age 2. Also the 18 month regression could be at play, is she normally an independent sleeper?

Yes, canines are still coming in.  :( She is normally a pretty independent sleeper. Before visiting family she would fall asleep completely on her own with me out of the room for BT and stay asleep till morning wu. We're getting back onto the falling asleep completely on her own again - I usually have to shhh for a bit but otherwise she's fine.

Last night was 6:30-5:30, which really isn't bad except that I want it shifted an hour later!

Oh yes I would want that shifted too...so not a morning person lol. What about pushing bedtime by a few mintues each day?

I could try by a few minutes each day, but I don't know if it would help as yesterday her nap was quite long and she went to bed at 7 and still woke at 5:30. :(

How long was the nap?
