Title: Starting off new
Post by: Anders45 on April 29, 2016, 19:32:47 pm
I brought home my little one from the hospital yesterday. She is 3.5 days old. I figure I should feed on demand for the first couple weeks, but she will wake up every hour or sooner rooting. Sometimes she'll take a full feed (45 minutes both sides total) and sometimes she'll just suckle for a minute to fall back to sleep. I have her in an propped bed because she has reflux and I've been swaddling her to try to get her to sleep for at least 1.5 hours.

So my question is if there is anything I could/should be doing to prevent turning her into a snacked, or if I shouldn't worry about it because she is still so little.

She's still very new, just feed and cuddle for now. She's feeding frequently - that will help your milk come in if it hasn't already. As your milk changes as she grows, she will probably go longer between feeds.
