Title: Desperate for help- no routine
Post by: Alvarminn on July 19, 2016, 12:07:31 pm
Hi!
My baby is a preemie, and 15,5 weeks old, that is 7 weeks adjusted.
Slept and behaved like an angel up into his due date 7 weeks ago. He got colic which I think is getting better, but now he is just cranky ALL his awake time. He smiles and coos a little bit (5 minutes) after he is awake, generally in The morning.
Here is a samle of his day yesterday:
6.30: Feed
7.30: S
9: F
9.45: S
11.15: F
12: A
13:F
13.30 S
15.30: A
17.15
17.30: S
18.30: F
18.40: A
20.30: F
21: Trying to get him to sleep
22.30: S

At night he wakes all The time, breastfeeding to sleep, but I can put him in his cot when he is in deep sleep. At day he either sleeps in his cot, our bed or the Bugaboo while we walk him. He refuses a pacifier.

He sometimes Falks asleep with sush pat in my arms.

Please help!
Where do I begin?

PS. I took The test to see which type he is and got most C's, definitely a touchy type. Got a little bit angel and textbook also. So I am wondering if he is very OT..? ???

This bit of the day looks like it works well.

This is where it fall off the rails, I think - he's managing 45min-1hr A time pretty well. I suspect anything >1:15 A time would probably leave him OT and he's not had any sleep from 11:15 to 13:30, so 2:15 A time.

Once he's OT, he's wired and very difficult to get to sleep, probably drifting off and waking suddenly a lot through that 1.5hr you spent trying to get him to sleep. At this age, you'd typically aim for 12hr night and 12hr day, so if he wakes at 6:30am for the day he really should be in bed for the night around 18:30 and any feeds thereafter are treated as night time - quiet, dark, minimal interaction.
