Title: Ew then sleeping in.
Post by: choc on September 17, 2016, 06:56:16 am
My 12 month old has got into the habit of waking at 5am. Sometimes it's a short waking then back to sleep til around  6. 15 and sometimes it's a long one where he plays in his cot for around an hour or more then goes back to sleep and has a massive lay in. Today he is still asleep at nearly 8am after being awake 5 til 6+.  By letting him lay in am I encouraging the long ew? Like giving a nap too early? Should I still wake him at 7 (we have to be up at 7 on week days) to try and stop him playing at 5am?

He has been on one nap for 5 days and it's been going well but now I am a bit out of sorts as his Wu time is so different today, not sure what time to do the nap.

Hi there I would say he's using that as a nap.

What time is his sleep in the day?

The first 4 days since he started 1 nap it was at 12.30 as I have to pick him up from nursery at 12.15. Then yesterday he slept til 7am so I bumped nap to 12.45 and he slept til 3. Bt at 7.15.
How can I stop him waking and playing at 5am then?! I had a feeling he was using it like a  nap although he was doing it occasionally before we went to the one nap.

With a good 2 hour plus nap I'd push BT a little later as a 13 hour day is often needed at this age, he's prob waking UT x

Ok, that's good to know, thanks. Even though he went back to sleep it could still be ut?  I think I will cap at 2 hours as i don't want Bt too late as I have another ds too. If he does it again even with a longer 2nd A time, would you suggest waking him at 7am instead of letting him 'catch up'  with a lay in?

If he's happy playing in there I'd say UT then just has a little nap when he's done lol! I would wake at 7 if you want 7.30 BT.

They do have developmental leaps around birthdays too x

Ok great, thanks for the advice. Just doing to play it by eat today and hope its not a complete disaster and get back to the original timings tomorrow. Hoping I haven't ruined the progress we have made this week moving to 1 nap.

Will do. Another 2 hour nap today so hopefully no damage done. Just got to hope for no 5am playing now!
