Title: Cries when I put him down after dream feed
Post by: Mummy23boys on November 05, 2016, 23:35:39 pm
Hi all, hope you can help. Not sure if I should be posting here or on the bottle feeding board. It's kinda to do with both I suppose.  My 5.5 month old has started to scream for his dreamfeed between 10.30/11. He has never done that before. I normally just do it while he's asleep.

He drinks his bottle no probs but then when he is done I lay him back in his cot, and he scream until I pick him back up. He's not happy unless he's on my shoulder. I keep trying to put him down but it's always the same. He has to fall asleep on my shoulder and then I gently put him down and hope for the best.

It's making me really not like the dreamfeed as it seems it disrupts him. Only for the fact that he does actually drink it and seems to need it.

Any advice please xx

Have you tried not doing the dream feed? For my DS the Dreamfeed made him so unsettled for the rest of the night I stopped doing it. It meant he woke 2X at night for feeds but I just ended up going to bed early. For my DD she is great with is and only wakes 1 more time. Could you try not doing the DF and see what happens?

I agree with pp, I never did it with my DD and she would easily sleep 7pm-4am and a quick feed and back to bed (granted she is generally a good sleeper). I did it briefly with my DS but found it caused more harm than good (though it does work wonderfully for many).

Thanks for your replies ladies. I dropped the dream feed cold turkey 3 nights ago. This is night 4. He has slept straight through to 6.45/7am. Without waking!! I'm giving him extra oz during the day to make up for it.  Hopefully this will continue!  Fingers and toes crossed xx
