Title: Fitting in 2 naps
Post by: My little Liam on June 05, 2017, 15:05:21 pm
DD is now doing 3hr45-4hr of A time.
Some days her morning nap is 1hr20 but some days it's closer to 2 hours or 2hr15. On those days I have trouble fitting in the second nap. For example today

WU 0700
A 3hr50
S 1050-1300
A 3hr43
S 1643- APOP at this moment

I had to bf to get her to fall asleep because she really fights the nap. Maybe she would fall asleep earlier if I put her down closer to a 4hr A but then the nap is really late.
I have no idea how long I should let her sleep and when BT should be. Just super confused and very frustrated.

Hi
given her age you could really do with keeping the 2 naps for a while yet.  How about if you capped nap 1 to help her have nap 2 more consistently?
As it looks like she runs on 40 min cycles with either 1hr 20 or 2hr naps you could cap at 1hr 20 when (it sounds like) she is coming out of her second sleep cycle.  This might be more comfortable a time to cap than at 1hr 30 when she's moved into a new cycle.
You can of course try 1hr 30 too though.
I would think you could then, hopefully, get a second nap more easily.
What do you think?

Yes I will definitely try capping!
So yesterday I woke her after 30 min, did BT after 3hr. Got a NW 30 min after BT that she would not resettle from. Woke screaming hysterically and only fell back to sleep 2hrs later!!

WU 0700
A 3hr50
S 1050-1300
A 3hr40 apop
S 1640-1710 I woke
A 3hr
BT 2013
NW 2043-1043
NW 0415 bf
WU 0810

Now I have no idea what to do today?! Help!

Well she fell asleep BF at 10 which is unheard of... she has a bit of a cold so it could be that or she's just exhausted from the short night

ETA
And she fell asleep again in the car at 1205 and she's still asleep! Something is up with her... I hope she isn't awake half the night because of it!!

It sounds like she's coming down with something, teething perhaps, or a cold.
Sleep wise all you can really do is go with the flow, easier said than done I know but if she needs earlier/later/longer naps to help her with illness then I'd let her have what she needs and wants for now.  Otherwise if she appears okay tomorrow try the tweak on the routine again and see how it goes.
