Title: Agitated Sleep Throughout the Second Half of the Night
Post by: Imzuzu on July 30, 2017, 05:02:58 am
Hello, my daughter is 10 weeks and will be 11 weeks in 2 days.  She began sleeping through the night starting at 7 weeks (from 10:30pm-6:30am) after she began eating all her ounces during the day. She is currently over 12 pounds and just started eating 32 ounces a day.  When she turned 10 weeks, she began to become agitated in her sleep starting around 3am or so and goes in and out of agitation for the remainder of the night.  When she is agitated, she does not fully wake and is not hungry, she cries, tries to wave her arms in the swaddle and moves her head from side to side.  I usually shush pat her chest in the bassinet (I don't take her out unless she is extremely upset and awake) and give her a pacifier and she falls back asleep, only to begin crying again in a few minutes.  She will be agitated for 1-1.5 hours, then quiet down for a little bit, and then start back up again.  I'm not sure what's going on and would appreciate some guidance!

Welcome to BW forums :)

Are you sure she isn't hungry?  It would be normal for a baby this age to have a second night feed (or even two) after the DF and even if she's been sleeping long stretches a growth spurt can mean needing to eat more in the night for several days.  Have you tried feeding?
I'm asking this as it sounds like hunger to me that way she only settles for a short time and then wakes or fusses again.
