Title: 4wo constantly hungry and crying and can't establish a schedule
Post by: AG67 on August 17, 2017, 00:20:45 am
Hi. Trying to get my baby into a schedule but struggling. I do E- eats almost all of his 3oz bottle but nothing more although I tried to increase his feed.
A- 3 min nappy change if he's not fallen asleep over the bottle.
S- wakes up when i put him down and cries. It takes about 15 min to settle him which is fine but will only sleep for an hour to hour and half after which he is up crying. Will give dummy/pacifier to try to extend feeding but I feel mean as  he is sucking which I take to mean he's hungry. If i offer him water not formula he will take that so he is hungry. Usually also needs a nappy change then.
Y- I wish.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Hi and welcome! I am on hols until tomorrow with dodgy wifi and poor service so I will be back here on Saturday😃

It sounds like he is going at least 2 hours between feeds so for 4 weeks that's fine. If he's hungry before 3 hours it's ok to feed him, be careful offering water they should only be offered an extra oz or 2 in 24 hours if it's very hot where you are.

There are a lot of growth spurts close together in the first months so they do need the feeds. Can you post your days with times so I can see what's going on please? So
Eat - what time and how much
Activity times - remember A includes the E time!
Sleep what time and how long for.

Does he have any symptoms of reflux? The constant need to feed and the being upset when horizontal were signs I didn't know to look for with my DD1 - and they turned out to be reflux.

I can't find the Reflux101 post right now - mods, can you link to that for me? Might be worth looking at in case something there raises a red flag for you. Might be nothing, but can't hurt to look. :)

Hi, just to update you. Upon advice I have changed his milk which is helpEd quite a bit and lessened his constant screaming and I am now in the process of moving (today) is moving day so I just haven't had a moment to get back onto here. Once I have moved I will start his daily dairy yet again as I am not sure it's any point using the old one.
Thanks for baring with me
Have a good day
