Title: Terrible wind getting us into bad habits?
Post by: cocosmum on December 16, 2017, 09:48:47 am
Hi, my 6 week old DD has been suffering from wind badly for the last three weeks. My two year old took to easy very well but I am worried that the only way I can get my new DD to sleep for some naps and parts of the night is on me.  As soon as I lay her down sometimes she starts arching her back, pulling her legs up and straining, even when she is able to fart it doesn't seem to settle her and more comes along.

I am just worried that I will turn her into a terrible sleeper if I keep letting her sleep on me but when she seems in pain and unable to settle.or sleep any other way I don't know what else to do. We are using infacol, neuners baby tea, massage and nothing seems to help.

I am hoping she will grow out of it and then perhaps we can get back on track with good sleeping habits or is that just wishful thinking?

Hi and hugs, sounds very tiring for you all.  At 6 weeks with an uncomfortable baby I wouldn’t be worrying about bad habits - what she needs is cuddles and comfort right now :)  have you thought about a trip to the doctors to make sure there isn’t anything else going on eg reflux or milk allergy? Establishing good sleep habits can wait until she is feeling better - i’d personally do what you need to do right now to get through it xx

Thank you so much, that's what I feel, that I need to be there and comfort her when she needs it. Seeing doctor this week so will ask about reflux but I am convinced it's low down wind. You're reassurance is really appreciated so thanks.
