It’s been a week of 5am starts!! I’m shattered!! Can’t sleep when he does as I’ve got a 2 year old too I’ve started cutting his morning nap down, not sure if that’s the right move? Wanted some advice before I make any mistakes with his routine. At the moment, with thev5am eu, his day looks like this:
5am WU
6am 5oz bottle
6.30am breakfast
9am 30 min nap
9.30am snack
11.30am lunch
1pm nap
3pm WU (I always have to wake him)
3.30pm snack
5pm dinner
6.15pm bath
6.45pm bottle
7pm asleep
How can I move his 5am wake up back? Anything from 6 is acceptable.
Thank you

Hello - I am so sorry your post has been missed - how are things now?? x

Pretty much the same! Do I need to drop he am nap? I just don’t know if he will be able to make it to lunch time x

Hi there I used to do CN 20 mins at 9.30am and main nap 12.45-2.30 then just knocked it to 10 mins in the car on the way to the shop and then moved main nap to 12.15-2.15 at 18 months we went to 1 nap 12.30-2.30

Yes I would be looking to drop that first nap (by shortening down first as Haribo suggests) and then get a good 2 plus hours after lunch. You will probably need to do a really early lunch time for a while - maybe even half before and half after!

I’m back, same problem. We’ve been on one nap for a few months now and he’s coping with it great. However, we’re still getting the EMW, usually 5am, give or take half an hour. This is our current routine:
5am WU (try leave in bed until 6 but he’s very loud and very upset, he usually wakes my 3 year old too which is also very frustrating)
6.30 breakfast
9.30 snack
11.30 lunch
12/1 Nap and bottle
2/3 WU (9 times out of 10 I have to wake him from his nap)
3 snack
5 dinner
6.30 bath and bottle
6.50/7 usually fast asleep, he absolutely crashes every night
Should I try a later bed time? We’ve had a few days when he’s only has an hours nap and that didn’t seem to make any difference.
Please can you offer any advice? I can’t start my day at 5 and have a 1 and 2 year old all day! It’s hard!!

Oh I should say he’s nearly 16 months now x

Is anyone able to offer some advice please? 5.15 this morning again.

Can you leave him to nap uncapped? Those early wake ups sound like OT to me....

Do you have his room blacked out? I feel like the blackout monitor at the moment, but people can sometimes have almost instant success on later WU if they fully black out the room. My DS's room has 3 layers of blinds (blackout blind attached to window frame, regular blind, blackout curtains on top) and when he didn't have it he woke with even a hint of dawn approaching (to me it was still dark and night time). Because he is older he is able to tell me when he wakes, that he can't get back to sleep and that he is still tired.
Can you leave him to nap uncapped?
also agree with Katherine's advice here.
