Title: 16 month old suddenly short nap.
Post by: Cluckylollie on August 20, 2018, 04:33:37 am
Hello,

My sweet 16 month old DD has started only napping for 1 hour. This has been happening for about a week. Previous to this I would have to wake her after 2 hours or she wouldn’t sleep well at night. She has always woken in the night.

This is her currently EASY:

630-WU
7-BF
9-snack
10-cows milk
1130-1330 nap
1330-lunch
1430-cows milk
1700-dinner
1800-BF/bottle
1830-BT

Hi
It could be that you need to move the nap a bit later to make sure she is properly tired for it. An UT nap at this age can be 1hr.  Maybe shift the nap 15 - 30 min later and see what happens over a week or 2. If she refuses BT because of a later nap and it being a long nap again then you will need to decide what suits her best, the shorter nap and longer night or the longer nap and a slightly shorter night.  Sometimes a later BT and slightly shorter night (with long nap) keeps LO happier and in better spirits.

Thank you for the reply. We’re trying longer A time before her nap. If she does 6 hours A time before her nap, should we do 6 hours between nap and BT?

I would always push the nap back by 15 minutes and then take that off the end of the nap too so that the A time to BT would stay the same. HTH x
