Title: Nearly 7 month old early waking
Post by: Gella75 on August 22, 2018, 07:10:50 am
Hi I’ve got a little girl who will be 7 months old in a week. I’ve posted on here before about her rubbish napping which has finally managed to sort itself out now and she’s having some good naps. However she’s having a problem. With waking early. She wakes up at 5am every morning and will not go back to sleep no matter what I try! She sleeps through the night till this time she will very occasionally wake at around 3am where I feed her and then she will sleep till about 6-6.30am!! I’ve pushed back her morning nap but still doesn’t help with the early morning waking. I’ll post her current routine and will appreciate any advice please!!!

Wake: 5-5.15am
Bottle: try to hold off till 6am
Breaksfast: 7.30am
1st nap: 9am has 45-60mins
Bottle: 10-10.30am
Lunch: 12pm
2nd nap: 1pm (3 hours after waking from nap 1) for 1.5-2hours
Bottle: 3pm
Dinner: 5pm
Bedtime routine: 6.30pm
Bottle:6.50pm
Asleep: 7pm

Hi
have you got the room totally blacked out? I found mine would start waking early if there was even a chink of light getting in, and even when I felt like it was still night time.
Is she waking early because she's hungry?  You say if she feeds at 3am she sleeps later, have you tried a cluster feed before BT?  Or a DF?
It could also be that when her naps were not so good she was able to sleep a longer night...but now that naps are longer she is unable to sleep a longer night. Some LOs do have quite short nights.  Mine wouldn't sleep more than 10.5 - 11hrs overnight no matter what (and it was 11 if I was lucky).  If this is the case you may need to alter the routine for a later BT and later WU.  Or if you feel that her mood was okay on shorter naps then you could reduce the length of one nap to see if nights lengthen - this is not always possible as LOs need day time sleep and reducing naps can obviously result in OT too.

A few ideas there - see what you think
