Title: 2 Yr Old Early Wakeup`
Post by: cgf on January 30, 2019, 21:36:30 pm
My 2 year old daughter began waking up super early the past few weeks. SHe used to wake up btwn 630 and 730 and now wakes up btwn 5 and 530, and is very irritable all morning. She naps at about 12:15 and wakes up by 3, or I wake her up then, basically I don't let her sleep past 3. Anything I can do to help her mornings go a bit later again so we all get a bit more sleep, and she is her usual happy well rested self??

Would love some advice, nearly due with baby #4 and would love to hep her!!!

Thanks

So she's getting 10 to 10.5 hours at night and a bit under 3 hours nap...  I think the nap length is robbing from night sleep. So rather than being a nap to hold her through to bedtime it's restorative enough to shorten her night.
I'd try keeping it at 2 hours. Probably start it at 12 until 2 to start with, then gradually move it to 12.30pm and if it still doesn't help cut the nap to 1.5 hours.

Ty so much for your response. Ivr thought abt that but what got me unsure was that some times she does sleep less than the usual three hours (like yesterday, she napped less than 2) and was still up early and cranky this morning. Is it something that needs to be steady, a few days straight of a shorter nap before hopefully deeing a difference? Thank you! Will definitelt try.
