Title: 2.5 year old won't sleep through the night alone
Post by: nerniefoofs on February 11, 2019, 03:42:15 am
Looking for some advice for our 2.5 year old.  Quick backstory: We moved her to a "big girl bed" (actually a trundle bed) a couple months back.  The first week was a big challenge, she didn't take well to the bed.  Once we'd get her to sleep, we'd rush in when she woke up, worried that she'd fall off the bed and hurt herself.  That turned into laying in the bed with her toypic get her back to sleep.  And often sleeping some portion of the night with her.

2 months later and we're in no better shape.  Once she falls asleep, she'll stay asleep for anywhere from 2-5 hours.  Then wake up and cry until one of us comes in the room.  Typically she'll lay down when we come in, but only if we lay next to her.  Ideally we get in, get her back to sleep, and get out.  Again, doesn't happen every time because we're exhausted.

We're ready to break the habit and get her sleeping on her own again.  Anyone been through this and have some suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

It's not abnormal at her age. I know for us a mattress on the floor for us to sleep with DS1, but with DS2 we put a (not that comfortable bed of a quilt for a mattress and apillow and another quilt and he'd come into the room and sleep and over time I wouldn't even wake up and then it just stopped.
