Title: dreamfed question
Post by: Mom2X&F&V on July 27, 2005, 13:48:33 pm
What if my dd falls asleep in the middle of dreamfed and after3 oz. there is no possible way to wake her up. i ve tried diaper changing and it doen't work. I am trying to take away the middle of the night fed, but if she only drinks a little in the dreamfed it would be difficult. How much formula does she need to resist from 11 to 7? What should I do to wake her up? If I wake her up would she sleep all the way through the night? Please hellllllppppp... :?

Hi again!!!  :D

During the dreamfeed you want to feed them while they are sleeping.  If you just started doing the dreamfeed, 3 oz is pretty good for her age.  Feeding her while she is sleeping will keep her relaxed...and most times won't need to be burped.  Every baby is different too so there is no given amount to know how much will allow her to sleep through the night.  Sometimes babies may be closer to 6 months before sleeping through.

Hi Ximena

The idea of a dream feed is actually to feed them without waking them. As the sucking action is a reflex in babies they will automatically suck when you put the bottle in their mouth (even if they are asleep). If they stop sucking then you can try rotating the bottle or shifting their position gently (to rouse them slightly but not wake them).

Hope this helps
