Title: 9 month old giving up morning nap?
Post by: girlfromcali on July 29, 2005, 15:06:20 pm
My 9 month old has recently been fighting his mornig nap.  He usually goes down no problem once he see's I'm turnign off the lights and  putting on his music, but the last few mornings he has fought it so hard and wouldn't go to sleep. Could he really be shifting to just one nap a day?  This is new to me since my older one was still taking two naps until he was 22 months old.  One nap would be great since they'd both sleep at the same time, but he just seems so tired and his one nap doesn't seem like it's long enough.

Try increasing the awake time.  Sometimes that seems to work with dd when she fights her naps. HTH

My 11mos old is currently doing a version of that (taking a short nap in the morning).

Try increasing awake time from 15 to 30min for a few days first before deciding if he is really ready for one nap.

I had the same problem with DD and extending wake time helped for a while. But DD was to one nap a day by 10 months and I was not happy about that. I liked the 2 naps...It did mean I moved up bed time as well to compensate for the 1 nap, but the morning nap was clearly done with my DD by 10 months.

Angel Face

Do you recall how long it helped for? (extending wake time?)

How did you move to one nap?

Any tips welcomed.

Thanks
