Title: is he bf enough?
Post by: MarkusSimm on August 03, 2005, 18:04:40 pm
Hi anyone,

I'm new here and my name is Audrey.  I have a 3 mo baby named Markus.  He is bf and the only thing is that he only bf for only 5 mins. max.  Is that enough and is he getting the hindmilk?  The last 2 visits to the doc shows him gaining weight so I'm just wondering.

Hi Audrey, nice to 'meet' you.

It sounds like Markus is doing OK. Has he always been a quick eater or is this a new thing?

At around about 3 months, they become much more efficient eaters, your boobs have got used to their needs, and the milk becomes more rich, so I wouldn't be too worried, especially if he's putting on weight.

Does he go for long enough periods between feeds (i.e. roughly 3 hours), or is he 'snacking'? If he's snacking more often, he may not be totally hungry when you feed him, so try extending the times between feeds so he is more hungry, and will take more.

If that's not a problem, however, keep going - you're doing fine!

Hi Caroline,

Thank u so much for replying and yes he is going roughly every 3 hrs.  Being a first time mom u never know if anything and pretty much everything is the norm.  Not to mention that I really don't have nobody to ask these questions that I have.  So thank u again for replying! :D
