Title: Could it be constipation?
Post by: julieb on August 06, 2005, 17:26:21 pm
My DS is EBF and we haven't started solids yet.  He's already gone through his 6 month growth spurt.  He used to be quite the regular pooper, 3 times a day like clockwork.  But over the last 3-4 weeks, it's become very erratic and unpredictable.  He also seems to hold his breath and grunt, mainly while nursing.  I can't figure out if this is a new trick or if it's constipation.  When he does go (won't go longer than a day and a half), he doesn't seem to strain much.

I thought it was very rare for them to be constipated.  He's never had trouble before.  Could this grunting and such just be a new game (like the fake coughs, screeching, raspberries, etc)?

Hey there.  I think as long as his poop is not hard he should be ok.  Is his poop hard when he does go?

It's still liquid.  But he went right after his nap today, then proceeded to grunt through nursing.  I guess it's just something new he's learned to do.      He's so weird sometimes!
