Title: growth spurt question
Post by: jimmyandseansmom on August 17, 2005, 01:06:40 am
My ds is five weeks as of yesterday.Yesterday he napped beautifully and seemed extra sleepy.Today he is waking up and it has only been two hours since his last feed and he is hungry.Does anyone know the times and sign of when growth spurts occur? Thanks!

Growth spurts occur usually at 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 6 months but they can be earlier or later +/- one week or more. If your baby is hungry more often than usual, unsatisfied after a feed and waking up more often at night that is possibly a growth spurt. Just feed him as often as he needs to build up your milk supply. Growth spurts usually last from 2 to 10 days.

my ds #2 did growth spurts at 10days, one month & has just finished one at 2.5 months, & I'm pretty sure my ds #1 also had his more than 10days before the "average" time too, so 5 weeks is very normal.
I have also noticed that they seem to sleep better & you feel like all is going well just before the growth spurt, so it sounds like your lo is there!
