Title: Accidental parenting??
Post by: Holly n Harvie on August 20, 2005, 10:50:04 am
My bubby generally sleeps from 10:30 pm (after dream feed) till 7 am. HOWEVER... he stirs and does little cries. I go into his room and replace his dummy (pacifier) and he goes back to sleep. Now, I have to do this about 3 to 5 times from about 3 am EVERY NIGHT. Am I doing him wrong by going in? I hope not. And will he stop doing that? I hope so.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the paci is a prop.   :?  Sounds like he either needs to find the paci on his own or you need to wean him from it.  It is very unlikely that he will stop doing it on his own.

Hi Holly - I read on someone's post on here to try to wean your LO off the pacifier try popping it out of their mouth just as they drift off to sleep.
Molly is not totally dependant on it yet and I want to avoid the dependancy if I can. She goes to sleep sometimes with it, sometimes without. I have tried the technique mentioned above and it works! Last night she just continued to suck without it in her mouth...too cute!
Just a thought, give it a try and let us know how it works out for you and little Harvie (btw...what a doll he is!!).
