Title: Naps great, bedtime a hassle
Post by: cindy_30 on August 24, 2005, 14:30:51 pm
Has anyone encountered this problem?  When I put my 9 1/2 month old DS down for his naps (still 2 a day), he goes down with no problem.  I just put him in his crib and walk out.  He'll play and is usually asleep with 10 minutes, but putting him to bed @ night is another story.  I've never changed the time, it's always 7:00-7:15 and the routine is generally the same, but he won't settle, mostly he just cries.  If I go in and check, I pick him up, but he arches his back, so I put him back down.  If I stay in the room, it's no help either.  And this will last for 40 minutes.  I usually have to wait for a full cry and then I can go in, give him a quick cuddle and he'll fall asleep.  Has anyone else had this problem?

I haven't had quite the same problem, but my 9 month old lo, who has slept really well for the past 3 months has started being difficult to put down for some naps and some bedtimes. I feel that it is developmental, although it has coincided with an illness. I have been doing pu/pd, but have also found that  sometimes he needs to be 'ready' before he lets go and falls asleep and yes sometimes this is after his cries have escalated. I'd say persevere with pu/pd.
