Hi. My 3 month old is feeding every 3 hours during the day and I've heard that feeding larger amounts every 4 hours helps them sleep better at night. Firstly, any opinions on this? Also, if there's weight to this, I'd like to try it but wondered how to get her into a longer feed routine when she's used to 3 hourly feeds? Many thanks xx

Hiya Im just trying to rack my brains as to what my DD did at 3 months
How much formula is your lo taking at each feed??

Ethan is just over 3 months now and I just waited for him to tell me when he needed more. When he started to drain the bottle I would add 1/2 an ounce more formula. Gradually his "I'm hungry" cues increased to now every 4 hours and he sleeps from 9pm-8am with one feed at 4am.
Good luck!

Thanks. She currently has:
6oz when she wakes at 7am
5oz at 10-10:30am
6oz at 1-1:30pm
5oz at 4-4:30pm
6oz at 7pm
She goes to sleep between 7pm-8pm.
She usually wakes in the night (about 3am) for a 5oz feed.
I'm feeding her every 3 hours rather than her telling me, maybe I should wait for her to tell me? (Of course the 6oz feed makes a bottle of 7oz once the powder is added....) xx

I would try that, but don't let her go over 4 hours :D Like the previous poster mentioned, if she is draining the bottle go ahead an add more. I usually added an ounce :D

I'm a bit concerned that dropping her from 3 x 5oz and 3 x 6oz to 4 x 6oz and a night time feed of 5oz will mean that she'll be 4 oz short on her daily feed. Maybe I should make her bed time feed a 7oz one? Let's face it, the powder makes the feed bigger than it is anyway. That and the fact that she's only 15 weeks and over 16lbs. I think I should see how I go....

Hi,
My 13 week old boy is taking 6 x 6oz of formula per day -
7am/10am/1pm/4pm/7pm and d/f at 10.30pm. He is around 17lbs and I have been told that he is overweight by my health visitor....I am very concerned that I am overfeeding him, but what do you do when he is clearly hungry?? I was wondering whether to give him formula for 'hungrier babies ' - have you or anyone else tried this and if so - should I cut down on fl.ozs at each feed? I feel worried about his weight now.... any advice?
thanks

I was told to stay clear of the hungrier baby formula as it is harder to digest and can make them constipated. What he is having sounds perfectly fine to me and like you say if a baby is hungry then you got to feed him!!
if he is feeding every three hours then its fine, if he was feeding every two hours then i would worry and maybe consider the hungrier baby formula. He sounds like he is doing just fine every three hours. I maybe totally wrong but these are my thoughts anyway
