Title: Now I'm really confused, what to do with 9 mo. old? HELP!!
Post by: traumafaerie on September 06, 2005, 21:10:32 pm
During the night, with our 9 month old, do we do PU/PD, just pat her in the crib, or lay her back down and leave the room?

Between the books and the interview that I just read, it gives different conflicting advice for this age range.

I'm sure that in my sleep deprived state, I'm just missing something.

What is the 'standard procedure' for this age range?

There is no "standard" for this age.  I found that one method works best for some babies and another method may not.  B/c of dd's temperment, i found that pu/pd does not work with her.  Therefore I have a plan of action whenever she is in distress.  It consist of pat/firm hand (usually works) and if it doesn't then rewrap her and hold her for a 1 min and lay her back down.  DD likes to fall asleep without me in the room or without me in sight.   I hope that you will discover what works for you soon.

Edit:  i found that the more I MAKE her go to sleep, the harder/longer it is for her to go to sleep.  She knows how to self-soothe to sleep, so I just need to make sure that she is without pain and is comfortable then she will go to sleep.
