Dear all,
I don't know what to do with my 10 month old ds, but he hasn't been well for over a week (cold) and now he won't nap longer that 1h15 during the day - and that's his long one :( . He used to take a short nap in morning and a long one over lunchtime but now still takes a short am nap (30-60m) but the lunchtime one he wakes after 1h15. He's not crying when he wakes which is confusing but I know it's not enough as he now has to have a late afternoon nap (which he doesn't like taking when we're in the house but will nap in car/pram if we're out).
I took him swimming this morning and he's usually exhausted after this but still just 1h15 for the nap. He now appears to be in the habit of 1h15. What is a 1h15 nap anyway, I thought sleep cycles were in 45 ?
I think the lack of day sleep is causing him to wake earlier in morning. Does anyone else notice this link?
Any suggestions on what I can do.

Sleep begets sleep! Yes, I've noticed that when my lo sleeps better for one nap, it helps the next nap, and so on... And she also sometimes sleeps for 1 hr 15!
Could you maybe post his schedule for the day - see if anything comes to mind?

Henry's sleep cycles are 40 minutes so he sometimes naps for 1 hr 20 minutes - two sleep cycles.
No suggestions to help - just wanted to share. :D

Thanks for the replies. At least I'm not alone in the 1h15 sleep. Hector's day is now usually like this (give or take):
6.30 Wake
7.00 Bottle
9-9.15 Nap roughly 40-45m
11.45 Lunch
12.30 Nap currently 1h15
2.30 Bottle
4.30-5.00 Nap 15 to 30m (but sometimes refuses like yesterday)
5.00ish Tea
6.30ish Bottle
7.00ish Bed
We lost the late afternoon nap about four months ago but because he's taking a shorter lunch nap he usually needs another little one. I don't let it go on too long cause I want to give him tea and get him in bed for 7 - 7.15.
I know the obvious is to put him down later for lunch nap but he's tired and wants to go to sleep after his lunch cause he's done that always. Do I just have to keep trying to extend the lunch nap by 15mins a day?
I must admit here that I'm only new to the BW techniques so we're not as well practiced in the EASY as you all may be
Thanks for any suggestions you can give...

Actually, what I'd suggest is a slightly earlier bedtime. Since you've lost the late afternoon nap, he's getting tired earlier - I can see not moving the 12:30 nap - you don't want him overtired! Can you try moving his bedtime up to 6:30 or even a bit earlier - at least for a while? Maybe not all in one shot...
